Hi everybody! I'm here again to write a little, but I hope interesting, paper concerning
Web Application Security. The aim of these lines are to help you to understand security
flaws regarding SQL Injection.

I know that maybe lots of things here explained are a little bit old; but lots of people
asked to me by email how to find/to prevent SQL Injection flaws in their codes.

GreenSQL is an Open Source database firewall used to protect databases from SQL injection attacks. GreenSQL works as a proxy for SQL commands and has built in support for MySQL. The logic is based on evaluation of SQL commands using a risk scoring matrix as well as blocking known db administrative commands (DROP, CREATE, etc). GreenSQL is distributed under the GPL license. GreenSQL works as a reverse proxy for MySQL connections. It means, that instead of MySQL server, your applications will connect to GreenSQL server. GreenSQL will analyze SQL queries and forward them to the back-end MySQL server.

Sphinx is a full-text search engine, distributed under GPL version 2. Commercial licensing (eg. for embedded use) is also available upon request.

Generally, it's a standalone search engine, meant to provide fast, size-efficient and relevant full-text search functions to other applications. Sphinx was specially designed to integrate well with SQL databases and scripting languages.

Currently built-in data source drivers support fetching data either via direct connection to MySQL, or PostgreSQL, or from a pipe in a custom XML format. Adding new drivers (eg. to natively support some other DBMSes) is designed to be as easy as possible.
